Camera or microphone not working

There can be various reasons why your camera or microphone might not be working.

Get up and running in five steps

Walk through these five steps:

  1. Browser. Are you using Chrome or Edge? If not, download and install it and try again. Still not working? Then go to the next step.
  2. Close your browser and try again. Close the page and try again. Not working? Then go to the next step.
  3. Microphone or camera selection. Did you select the right microphone or camera in the settings? If not, please do so. Not working? Then go to the next step.
  4. Close other video software. Are programmes that can use your camera/microphone - such as Zoom, Teams, FaceTime - closed? If not, close these and re-enter the session. Not working? Then go to the next step.
  5. Restart computer. Restart your computer and try again to join via Chrome or Edge.

Do you have a Mac-computer?

Do you have a Mac? Check that Chrome has permission to use your camera or microphone via 'System Settings' -> 'Privacy and Security' -> Camera and Microphone (see tutorial video below).
